College Student Insurance

College student insurance is available in a few forms to interest the student in search of insurance protection while attending college classes. Whether the student is attending college full time or part time they still qualify for college student insurance or CSI. Now it is a matter of the student deciding which type of insurance they are interest in and how much coverage they can afford. The only downside is the college student insurance will not cover items the student requires medically when at home like diabetes equipment, oxygen, and nebulizers.

An insurance policy similar to a tenant's insurance policy will cover the college student with personal damage of up to six thousand dollars a year for about one hundred fifty dollars a year with a twenty-five dollar deductible. This will cover damage incurred to the student's laptop, television, game system, iPod, books, DVD's, CD's, clothing, and the student's cell phone. The college student insurance or CSI will insure up to twenty five thousand dollars worth of loss so it is something to research.

There is also a health insurance policy offered and distributed through the college the student is attending. The Student Select college student health insurance plan provides enrolling students with a high quality health insurance benefit program. This is a comprehensive insurance policy for students a very little cost on monthly premiums. It covers almost every area of concern such as:

Prescription drugs, office visits, and hospital room and board

Intensive Care, Inpatient and Outpatient surgery, and lab and x-ray

Substance abuse, mental and nervous disorders, and medical evacuation

Repatriation benefits, and pregnancy

Pre-existing conditions, and extension of benefits

There is also a third insurance policy that most if not all colleges carry and it is the Short Term Student Insurance Amigo Medical Plan. This is a short-term health insurance plan that covers individuals who have a gap health insurance plan. The choice for the enrolling or current college student is if they are in need of coverage for six months or for a full twelve months. This short term Amigo Medical Plan will cover the following.

Outpatient visits, and hospital room and board coverage

Emergency room treatment, and up to two million policy maximum

Inpatient and outpatient hospital charges including prescription drugs

Urgent care with a $50.00 co-pay

All charges for dressings sutures, casts

Diagnostic testing, emergency local ambulance

Students have many options available to them in Washington State. Washington state law provides that any students or dependents up to age 25 can remain on their parent’s health insurance plans. In addition, many individual plans are available to students for very low cost. Temporary student health insurance plans are also widely available and cover short term needs. However, student health insurance plans are not a substitute for permanent health insurance. http://myhealthinsurancewa.com/
